Roofing Dimensions and Simsol

Simsol has the ability to import roofing dimensions gathered by EagleView or SkyMeasure, in XML format. This will save you time by not having to manually insert the squares of your roofing estimate, or having to draw out a diagram.

Importing a Diagram into a Roof Area

The methods for importing a EagleView or SkyMeasure packet are virtually the same. First you will navigate and highlight the claim you want to add these measurements to. Then, click the Show Highlighted Claim File button.

Next, in the Claim Enclosures Tree, click on the Scope of Damage for the estimate where your roof is.

If you haven't created a Roof Area yet, create one now by clicking the Roof button. If you have already created a Roof Area, select it with a single click and then click the Edit button. You should now see the Roof Dimensional Calculator window. From here, click on the 3rd Party button to display the 3rd Party Roof Measurement System prompt.

Depending on the packet you want to import, select either EagleView or SkyMeasure and click OK.

This will open the familiar Window's Open window. Here you will navigate to where the EagleView or SkyMeasure packet is saved on your computer, select it, and click Open.

*NOTE*: In the graphic, below notice the section listed as 'Files of type', at the bottom. Here, it is selected as 3rd Party Roof XML *.xml. If this is selected to anything other than 3rd Party Roof XML *.xml you will NOT see your .xml file in the list to select. You MUST change this to 3rd Party Roof XML *.xml before continuing.

You will now see the squares for the roof populate into Simsol. Make sure to set a Waste Factor Percentage below. You may enter a predefined value from the drop down list, or a user defined value in the text field next to it.

If no other changes need to be made, select Done in the top right to save your changes.
